Assignment of the fingerprinting procedure
How do I get an invitation to take fingerprints (biometrics) if you are in the court system and filing an I-589 with the court?
The court does not schedule the fingerprinting process itself.
Only USCIS can schedule the biometric process.
When you file an I-589 with USCIS online or by mail, you are automatically assigned a fingerprinting case.
However, if you file an I-589 with the court, regardless of the method of filing (by mail, in person, or online with the help of an attorney), in order to be scheduled for fingerprinting, you must take the following steps
Mail to USCIS:
To the following address:
USCIS Nebraska Service Center
Defensive Asylum Application with Immigration Court
P.O. Box 87589
Lincoln, NE 68501-7589
Some important details:
Is this really necessary? Why is it necessary?
Yes, it is required, but you do not have to do it right away. You must be fingerprinted on your I-589 application (fingerprints taken at the border or on Form I-765 do not count) before the judge can make a favorable decision and grant you status. After the Master Hearing process, the court will give you this order on its own. You must complete this process before the final court hearing (individual hearing). However, you can do this before that without waiting for the court to ask you to do so.
